LAGOS – Dr. Solomon Kehinde Orji, Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), has debunked defecting to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Orji, in a statement sent to Daily INDEPENDENT, said the news of him moving to PDP alongside two gubernatorial candidates in the state – Abiola Adeyemi of Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) and Joseph Ogebule of Freedom and Justice Party(FJP), is false and should be disregarded by the political class and other stakeholders.
The GPN candidate thereby stated: “I, Dr. Solomon Kehinde Orji, the Lagos State Gubernatorial candidate of Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), hereby want the public to know I am not Hon. Solomon Orji, which was reported to have defected to PDP with two other gubernatorial candidates – Abiola Adeyemi of Democratic People’s Congress DPC, which in the false news was taken to be a male and Joseph Ogebule of Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) which was christined with another name, Adegboyega, that we have moved to PDP alongside with thousands of our supporters and groups.
“We hereby wish to let the public know that this is false news. How will three gubernatorial candidates move to a party without adopting the said party’s gubernatorial candidate?
“This evil is to disrepute our great efforts and work we have put on ground spread all over the 20 LGs and 37 LCDAs by our structures and parties members.”
Orji added: “I want Lagosians and the political class to know I am in the race and the two other candidates mentioned in the false news that my party, GPN and their parties DPC and FJP, are behind us and all our supporters spread all over Lagos State. Therefore, we advise the public to disregard the false publication.”
