Oyo State ADC governorship candidate, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has reiterated that his policy thrust will be the welfare of the good people of Oyo State, when voted into office in the coming governorship poll in the state.
Lanlehin harped on this commitment on Tuesday, while speaking to newsmen, on the sidelines of a roadshow organised by his party, the ADC, in furtherance of the zonal rallies earlier commenced by the party. Similar rallies had hitherto been held in Iseyin, Ogbomoso, Eruwa and Oyo.
The roadshow which had Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on total lockdown, was indeed, a colourful movement round the Ibadan metropolis, with a procession which began at Lanlehin’s campaign office along Oke Bola, moving through Molete, Ojaaba, Bere, Oje and Agodi Gate. Other areas visited included Total Garden, Secretariat, Bodija, Samonda, Sango and Mokola,
In the long colourful convoy, alongside Lanlehin, was his running mate, Alh Saheed Adejare Alaran, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Senator Soji Akanbi, Hon Adedapo Lam-Adesina, as well as many other candidates of the party. While members of the party’s state executive led by the Chairman, Alh (Dr) Ahmed Ayinla and Secretary, Alh Wasiu Emiola, including many supporters and loyalists, all dressed in attractive attires; holding banners, posters and leaflets, advertising different ADC candidates, were also not left out. Several live bands were also on the convoy.
Lanlehin, while fielding questions from journalists, maintained his readiness to run a people’s government, whose love for them will be unequalled. “We will run a government that prioritises the people, whose major concern is their welfare. We will make sure that big contracts stop, and such broken into small units, for the benefits of our artisans,” he said.
“Our people must be given jobs, the monies realised from contracts must stay in Oyo State. We won’t award big contracts to just one foreign contractor, and we don’t want people coming from places like London, Lebanon, and so on, and then taking our money away, rather, we want our people to be the drivers of our economy.” he added.
Speaking further, the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate said, “our people are suffering, they’re dying, they’re hungry. That will change come 29 May, 2019, as by the grace of God, and their unwavering support, the people’s government will be entrenched by then.”
On the mayhem witnessed in the Idi Arere area over the weekend, Lanlehin berated the Oyo State government for investing heavily in gadgets which are capable of malfunctioning, instead of investing in people to drive their productive energies, and consequently steer them away from crime. He said, “we will focus on people, it’s not about gadgets, not about CCTV that does not work. All those CCTV are just for contracts, and for making money. We will focus on the people; the people of Beere, of Idi Arere, of Kisi, of Igboho, of Ogbomoso, we will make sure their progress and happiness is our prime concern, and we will make sure they get money to take care of themselves. We will not take their money through security votes, we will not take their money through contracts, through bogous model schools, bogous bridges, etc. All of these will come to an end. Our policy will be people, people, and people.”
Lanlehin and his team later branched at the Spare Parts Market, Gate, where he assured traders of adequate government support with a view to boosting their trade, and improving the state’s economy. “We shall grant you interest free loans to boost your trade, and renovate this market to world class standards,” he pledged.
Lanlehin was in an open roof jeep, in the course of the roadshow, from where he pumped fists into the air, acknowledging cheers from excited members of the public, who came out in large numbers to cheer him. Also present on the convoy was popular philanthropist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a. Sunday Igboho, while officers and men of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services as well as those of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, were on hand to provide security, and ease flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Lanlehin’s campaign train is to hit Oluyole local government on Thursday, 10 January, 2019, in commencement of his local government campaigns. Places proposed to be visited include Olomi, Ayegun, Idi Ayunre, Muslim, and many others.
