Awka – An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former woman leader of the party in Anambra state, Dame Helen Nkechi Isamade, has boasted that President Muhammadu Buhari has no reason to be afraid winning Saturday’s re-scheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Isamade said in an interview with INDEPENDENT that Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) celebration of victory is premature because she was sure that Buhari’s achievements in the last three and a half years in office were evidence enough to turn the tide and appealed to Nigerians to vote the President for a second term in office based on his monumental achievements.
She also appealed to people from the South East to vote for Buhari based on what he had done for the zone.
Isamade said: “Second Niger Bridge is upcoming, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway is up coming, Eastern Railways Bypass are upcoming; and above all, impunity has reduced and corruption is being fought.
“Nigerians should just wait for his victory, because President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) will bring all those who stole Nigeria money to book. No stone will be left unturned.”
Dame Isamade feared that no other Nigerian leader will tackle corruption the way President Buhari did, and if he failed to be re-elected the war against corruption will come to an abrupt end.
She said that people who are afraid of their shadows are behind efforts to see that President Buhari did not return.
Apart from war against corruption, she continued: “His fight against insurgency, the prospect of power shifting to South East, the peace enjoyed in the country and infrastructural development the nation has achieved in the last three and a half years are pointers to a bright future for the nation.
She said: “Think about the infrastructural development the President has brought about, especially in the South East where work is in progress on the Second Niger Bridge, Zik’s Mausoleum has just been commissioned and work moving speedily on the dilapidated Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
“These projects stagnated or were even abandoned before President Buhari came into office.
“President Buhari is the solution to Nigeria’s problems and I believe that four more years would have done Nigeria more good,” she added.
She faulted those arguing that the war against insurgency in the North East was dragging, adding that more has been won compared to the situation on the ground before Buhari came into office.
“Peace is the foundation for development. Nigerians may not appreciate this now until it is too late. Is it not said that people don’t appreciate what they have until they lose it?” she added.
“Saying that President Buhari is building a new foundation for a new Nigeria she reminded the South East that one good turn deserves another, adding that their claim to Igbo Presidency is easier achieved if Buhari is re-elected.
“It does not make sense to take a long route to a short distance,” she said.
She also reminded people of the South East of Buhari’s promise to create additional state from the area if re-elected.
